The warning advised residents along the southern coast of Kyushu and the nearby island of Shikoku to evacuate to higher ground immediately as waves of up to one meter were predicted. While no significant damage has been reported thus far, emergency services are on high alert.

Japan, situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is no stranger to seismic activity. The country has a robust early warning system and disaster preparedness protocols in place, which have helped mitigate the impact of such natural calamities. However, the memory of the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami remains fresh, underscoring the constant threat posed by these natural disasters.

As the situation evolves, authorities are urging residents to stay informed, follow official guidelines, and prioritize safety.
